It’s That Time Again…

THANK YOU to Cassie at Primitive & Proper for asking me to guest post on Friday, not to mention her kind words.  Also, thank you to everyone for all your comments about my bathroom and man room!!

Now on to business! Every year my kids school has an auction.  Since it’s a parochial school it goes to help cover costs which makes it very high stress!  Each grade does a class project, I was in charge last year and am doing it again this year.

There were a couple misses last year so they won’t make the cut,  but the success will stay.  Since I had to get rid of some I decided to peruse Pinterest for ideas…

This was done with hymnal paper but my friend suggested each child write a prayer on the paper,  love that idea…

I would love for the kindergarten class to do this…

This is definitely a high pressure job,  some of them go for crazy amounts of money so I’m starting to feel anxious…
Here’s a couple keepers from last year…
We have stained glass windows in our church so I took a picture of one of them, cropped it down and went over the “lead” with a sharpie.  The kids filled in the “stained glass” with their fingerprints using ink pads…

I bought a bunch of scrapbook paper from Paper Source and the kids used strips to form crosses, I then glued them into one large cross…

It’s hard to see, crappy phone pic, but the kids made their own stamps and then we dipped them in paint and stamped away.  This was one of my all time favorites, much prettier in person.  Unfortunately I don’t think we’ll be able to do it again.  The art teacher was heavily involved in making this happen but she didn’t come back this year.  With a new teacher I’m not sure I’d be able to explain how to achieve this…

Another one I loved, but was not embraced by others.  One of my friends, who doesn’t have a child at the school, bought it because the bidding was not going well.  My other friend was so mad at her husband because she DID want it but was in the bathroom when the bidding started,  her husband was suppose to bid but felt bad bidding against our other friend.  Long story short, friend A gave it to friend B for her 40th birthday, so alls well with the world…

If you aren’t a fan, keep your comments to yourself, my ego is still a little fragile about the response at the auction.
Here’s a  close up…

It’s done with mother of pearl buttons…a gazillion of them that is.  I was inspiried by Ann Carrington who is the artist friend of the Novogratz family and who I think is completely amazing, love her work…
So, the point of this long drawn out post?  It’s gonna be a long couple of months…
