Falling Behind…

I hate it when life gets in the way of projects, decorating, etc.  I have yet to decorate for fall and every time I read someone’s blog showing their newly, fall decorated front porch the pressure builds…

Normally I decorate our front porch for Halloween but I really want to incorporate items that will last through fall…

Here’s some inspiration if your falling behind fall decorating like me…

I have no words to say how much I L-O-V-E that damn green door!!!

Have a Happy Fall Weekend!!

Guest Post from Design Shuffle…

Hello all! Susie here, with a guest post front Design Shuffle, a social networking site for interior designers, architects and everyone who has a passion for interior design. I'm excited to be here at lemonDrop dreams (love that name!) writing about colorful carpets and decorating ideas inspired by them. Colorful carpets add so much to a room. They can create a focal point for a seating area, dress up a bedroom and add color to rooms like the kitchen, bath or laundry room. Whether you choose wall to wall carpets, area rugs, runners or carpet tiles, think about choosing a carpet with color to add life to a room.

Colorful Carpets

Wall to wall carpet looks so chic in a navy and white geometric print. Navy is a great neutral color for a bedroom. Accent with yellow, orange or green for a colorful room.

Colorful Carpets Color dramatically changes the look of the same pattern on these area rugs. Crisp white looks great with each of these fall inspired colors. Colorful Carpets Pale blue and white make for a Scandinavian influenced rug in this stylish bedroom design. Coordinating the rug color with the wall and textile colors creates a monochrome look. Colorful Carpets A colorful carpet in the kitchen adds comfort under foot and all that color can hide stains. A runner in front of the sink or stove is a smart idea. Colorful Carpets Colorful carpets in the entry hall create a cheerful greeting for family and guests. Mix colorful carpets with bold wallpapers for big design impact. Colorful Carpets If colorful carpet can cheer up even the most utilitarian of rooms, the laundry room, imagine what it can do for other rooms in your home. Solid or patterned, colorful carpets add life to a room. Colorful Carpets Colorful carpet is perfect for the nursery. Carpet tiles are a great interior design idea for baby's first room as they can easily be switched out if one gets stained. Colorful Carpets If you have a neutral colored carpet and wish you had a colorful carpet, you are only a can of paint away from your wish. Using a stencil will give the painted carpet a stylish pattern.

Good-bye Summer…Hello Fall

Summer is officially over.  My favorite seasons are spring and fall, the cool weather lets me open the windows and get the stale poopy diaper smell out of my house!

I’m always telling people a great way to change your décor is to swap out pillows with the season.  I have yet to follow this advice BUT this year I’ve taken the first step…looking at fall fabrics.

The fabrics I want to use are not the muted colors of fall because that wouldn’t really go with my décor, I’d rather use colors that are considered fall…orange, yellow, green, etc, but still bright and fun…

The pink really screams summer, but hey it has orange…

The Loo…

My guest bathroom is not hideous, but it’s not really my style. The wallpaper is a sage green toile. Obviously, toile is a classic timeless pattern so that’s not really the bad part of the bathroom…it’s the tile!!

It is 70’s green, not the fun kelly green but not a pea green. I actually don’t know what you’d call it…

See, not terribly ugly…definitely livable, but I’m still ready for a change. The problem? I can’t figure out what I want to do on the walls. I can’t seem to wrap my head around what will go with that damn tile!!

I do love this look…

Or a pattern (the silver floral) like this, but I’m worried it’s too much like my half bath

I’m stumped so any suggestions on colors or patterns are welcome…must coordinate with the green tile, unfortunately we are not renovating…

I’ve been playing around with Photoshop for a plan for my bedroom, which will not be happening anytime soon…I really did it just for practice

I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to find a headboard like the one above.  Wonder if a REALLY BIG frame would work??

Two Girls…Two Rooms

I have the mood boards done for my first “client”. One daughter is moving into the teenage years and since this will be the only time it will be redone it needs to last through high school…

The room has been painted and all the furniture will be stay the same…

Next up…

Her 4 1/2 year old is in love with (vintage) Barbie and ballet…

Again, the walls, furniture and bedding will remain the same. Just needing to arrange the Barbie prints she already owns and incorporate other artwork. Also, she has a little nook that will be for reading…

Here’s hoping she likes….

In Need of Some TLC…

Remember I said I found a $25 table for my cousin (praying it works with her new sectional)?  Well here she is in all her glory…

Poor girl has seen better days…

I can’t decide which I like better, the price or the actual table.  I can’t wait to give her a little tlc and a new coat of paint, red perhaps…

I do kick myself for not buying an aqua Asian inspired ceramic lamp at an estate sale this weekend that would have look fab with the new table…

Missoni for Target…or Ebay??

I didn’t even bother trying to pick up a Missoni memento at Target, I actually forgot about the whole hoopla.

From what I’ve been reading it sounds like the same story as when they had their huge Liberty of London launch, you know, babies and old ladies getting knocked down for pillows, throws, and shoes…

After reading about Jenny & Danielle’s disappointment and a segment on Today, it got me thinking, where has all the Missoni gone?

To eBay you silly…

Target: $399   eBay: current bid of $1.100

Missoni Travel Tote - Color Pattern

Target: $49.99

Missoni 21

Target: $169.99

eBay: $525

Missoni Large Floral Comforter Set

Full/Queen Comforter Set

Target: $99.99   eBay: $449.00

(not sold out online)

Missoni for Target® Sleeveless Knit Maxi Dress - Blue Zigzag Print

Target: $64.99  eBay: $300

(NOT Sold out online)

I can’t find this online, any dishware actually.  I know that Target’s site crashed last night so they may have had to clean up a little.  Anyway…

Target:  ?  eBay: $300

So, don’t despair, it’s not all gone.  If you didn’t make it to Target or couldn’t hit that refresh button fast enough for the online launch, there are plenty of sleazy sellers on eBay waiting to charge 4x’s retail (if not more) to any desperate sucker out there!!

If Aqua & Red Had Babies…

My husbands cousin is wanting to redecorate her living room. When she first got married and started buying furniture she fell into the trap we all do of picking things out that are “grown up”. Then years later we realize the décor is not all that fun.

She & her husband are one of my favorite couples, not one is she my hubby’s cousin but her hubby and my hubby went to grade school & high school together and our kids are now in school together.

I was over at her house house a couple weeks ago and she mentioned she was getting a sectional and wanted to get a coffee table that she didn’t care if it got messed up. Of course my mind started churning and I was on a mission. I found her a coffee table that I hope will work when she gets her sectional…and it was only $25

She has a bright blue master bath and the cutest red retro wall phone

so I told her I thought she should do aqua and cherry red, wouldn’t you know it, it’s her favorite color combo…When you’re good you’re good!!
