Curtain Re-do…Re-do

Obviously the third times a charm around here…as far as my curtains go

They looked like this for a while…

004

Then I added a little ribbon, which worked…for a while

016

But I have to say I really wanted something different.

Enter pink & gold…again!! I used the rest of the paint from my little bench and some fabric I had originally intended to use for throw pillows…

012

Ahhhh…now that’s what I’m talkin’ about

Notice the rod a couple curtains ago?…it was black

Now…

016

It gives a much lighter feel…

Still some touches to add to the room, pillows for starters. I found this adorable pillow via The Mustard Ceiling

you can find the tutorial here

I ordered some aqua felt from this shop…I’m hoping it’s the right shade

Working Hard…

I want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone’s wonderful comments about my painted bench, I smiled when I read each & every one…thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Next week is back to the grind of finishing the class projects for my kids school auction…I’ve taken advantage of my free time this week to get a few projects going around the house…

No big reveal…yet, I’m hoping by Monday things are picture presentable  perfect!!

It involves a little of this…

Regrets…I’ve Had a Few…

I think I took the black too far in my dining room…

Obviously I got a little excited to redo and didn’t take the final look into consideration.  Since I have a love affair with Rub n Buff I will use that on the  moulding.  I’ll spray the chandelier gold (which is it’s original color…the hubby’s going to kill me) but I’m thinking the mirror will stay…for now

Just a Little Botox…

First off, I want to give a huge THANK YOU to Kristy at Hyphen Interiors for her feature of my little painted bench!!  Truly an honor…

I gave my half bath a little primping…not an extreme facelift, just smoothed out some wrinkles…

Before…

007

I switched out the mirror, luckily I already had it…added the mercury glass vase I found at an estate sale…

012

and did a little Rub n Buff on the light fixture…I thought I had a better picture of the before, I don’t…it was black…the gold has a much lighter feel…

013

The true hero in all this was Dora the Explorer who gave my 2 1/2 year old a Spanish lesson while I piddled…gotta love a free babysitter!!

Take… a Look… at Me…

It’s been a big yawn here at chez lemonDrop… I figure it was time for a good ol’ fashioned makeover…

Here’s a reminder of what the bench looked like just a couple days ago…

002

Oof!!

And today…

001

Now that’s a sexy bitch!!

The gold is Rutstoleum metallic gold and it went on soooo smooth…like butta… The pink is Sherwin Williams Exuberant Pink, if I do this again I will use gray primer first…it took 3 coats and it could really use one more…

002 (2)

I love it…love love love it!!

I have to say this project was pretty darn easy, and quick…of course there’s not much fabric.  Kristy’s tutorial said to spray with water as you paint.  I did not do this, God did not grant me patience so I just slapped the paint on.  I’m not sure if the results would have been different, might depend on the fabric you’re painting…

003

Ok, one more look…

001

Have a good weekend!!

Just Do It…

After months of thinking and building up enough courage to do it, I’m biting the bullet and gonna  paint me some fabric!!

I have this little bench from my mother in law…

002

in an obvious need of a makeover…

005

…used for purely decorative purposes it’s the perfect victim!!

I’m sure you’ve all seen Kristy’s painted chair that has become famous in the blogosphere…check out this post for her detailed tutorial and a ton of reader do overs…

I was thinking a gold frame with pink fabric and white trim…possibly, not sure, maybe some gold tacks too…

THEN, wouldn’t you know it,  Amy has made over her barstools which has got me rethinking…

why not make it patterned… (who am I kidding, I’ll chicken out and leave it plain)

Can you stand it?!? It’s painted leather

I hope to get this started NOW if not before…

Look at My Loot…

I went to a party Friday night and came home with this…

001 (3)

and a hell of a bit of a hangover…

I won this uber awesome “basket” in a raffle…the little plastic bin in front is toffee covered in dark chocolate and pistachio’s…yummers!!  There’s also some 2 buck Chuck, lemon cookies, sesame covered almonds, pineapple salsa, tea, coffee and pumpkin bread

Trader Joe’s is da bomb…

Bonsai…

I was driving home from Michael’s the Friday when I saw this in a empty corner lot…

bonsai

I didn’t stop right away but  did end up making a U-turn on the first street I passed, which by the way is THE most narrow in the city with a large drop off on either side…

I made it unscathed and at first was a little disappointed at the prices considering it was a fly by night gypsy operation…fortunately there were more affordable trees on the bottom row in the front…

I picked up two, one for me

bonsai tree

and one for a X-mas present for my mom, if I don’t kill it before then…$15 each

bonsai tree 1

And on Sunday a group of us  played flag football against our 7th grade boys, an auction item we bought last year.

It was so much fun, although every muscle in my body aches…

pretty sure I looked like this…

Fall Mantel…

I have to say it’s not all that exciting and could definitely be tweaked…a lot.  In my defense this is my weakest of weak spots AND this is the MOST insane mantel to decorate…

This is what is usually looks like…everyday for the past almost 6 years…

167

It actually didn’t look EXACTLY like this when I started…the mirror was gone so it was literally a blank slate.

This is what I half assed pulled together…

004

It’s just kind of…there…

As you can see it’s in a corner with a 4” rounded mantel.  Not a lot of room to work with.  I did, very loosely,  copy cat Modern Jane’s mantel but will say hers looks 300% better than mine…

I’m thinking I will paint the glass white to mimic milk glass, it’s all just lacking color…

005

And I’m thinking the frame will be in need of a makeover…something to make it pop against the brick… which I am not willing to paint…the brick that is

Mirror Mirror…I Mean Chalkboard…

I have been wanting to do this little project since I saw this image on Grace Happens…

DSC_0495

Yes… since Christmas…don’t judge

I didn’t get to my outside decorating this weekend but I was able to find the time to do a good ‘ol fashioned project around my house (it’s been a while).   I bit the bullet and found a quickie I could do to satisfy my creative juices…

I picked this mirror up at a garage sale…

001

It looks like dirt streaks but actually the silver leaf is really bad.

001

I’ve had a can of chalkboard paint laying around for 2 YEARS!! maybe 3…

006

I used my favorite finish Rub n Buff to pretty up the frame.  I need to hang it but can’t find any of  our picture wire…

I think I’ll keep it all year for X-mas, Easter & birthday countdowns…
