and the list goes on…

I’m ready for a little Xmas break, not necessarily for the celebrations but more the sleeping in and a break from making lunches, homework, etc…

I’d like to tackle some home projects while on our extremely short break, the list is broken down from $ to $$$…I’ve got supplies, it’s just where to start?  The list is overwhelming!!

Kitchen chairs to paint…

or green

throw pillows…just picked up this spotted fabric for the man room that I love, goes great with the fabric for the window cushion…

mix that with some ‘mmm ‘mmm good tartan plaid,

gallery wall once all the furniture is put back to it’s original state…

these will all be mixed in with my butterfly art….still a long way to go but here’s what I’ve collected so far…

and my favorite original work of art…

and then of course there are the projects that are 98% done that need to be wrapped up….finish painting trim, hem curtains, blah blah blah

don’t lose faith…

It goes without saying that everyone has been rocked a little by Friday’s events.  My heart aches for the community of Newtown/Sandy Hook and the families who lost their beloved angels.

I think what the world needs to keep their faith and belief in God now more than ever in order for good to win over evil.

I read this, found via Peppermint Bliss, and I think it is a must read for everyone today and everyday…please spread it around, and grab the Kleenex!!

my kind of year…

By now it’s old news that Pantone’s color of the year is Emerald, which by the way is my birthstone…

I feel like the cool girl who’s already ahead of the trend…

Who’s going to jump on the emerald bandwagon?

the best day ever…

Yesterday four friends and I took a road trip to Atchison, KS, about an hour away to a little store called Nell Hills…there’s one closer to home but the original is in Atchison.

The reason??  We got to have lunch at the home of Mary Carol Garrity who owns Nell Hills…she’s kind of a big deal around these parts

I will admit that I like the Briarcliff Nell Hills a little better because it has fabric and furniture but I was definitely the only one in the group with that opinion

nell 1

Everyone wanted this but I couldn’t talk anyone into taking it home…

nell 2

Some painting was taking place with none other than the color of 2013!!

I brought a sample home…

nell 4

I’m digging all the plaid…maybe it’s the weather/season

nell 5

From there it was on to Mary Carol’s for lunch…we stood like idiots on the porch, we didn’t know the doorbell didn’t work and no one wanted to knock

Can you say dream home?

nell 14

I was trying to be stealth and sneak pictures when she left the room because it wasn’t that kind of lunch…sorry for the quality and my friends heads…

nell 6

I loved how the bookcases were filled with books…I spy some butterflies!!

nell 7

The larger pillows have a cream monogram…I couldn’t stop looking at them

nell 9

The other side of the room…

nell 8

The dining room…navy walls and beautiful art, I wish I would have snapped a photo of the place settings, so proper…I was in heaven!!

nell 10

nell 13

How much do you love these dining chairs…

nell 15

Hall bath…the ceiling was wallpapered too!!

nell 12

There you have it…her home was absolutely fabulous,  she was by far the most gracious hostess…I wanted to stay for dinner!!

around these parts…

I’ve been getting chez lemonDrop ready for Christmas…it’s slow going and I’m now convinced I must move at a Granny’s pace…

I have to say I REALLY don’t like a lot of my Xmas d├ęcor, it’s been around for a while and I’ve outgrown it…

That being said, things are pretty simplified this year…

the quality of pictures is bad…so glad I got the big, expensive camera and still have no clue how to use it…

This is my prized possession, a Waterford Nativity set which is now discontinued…it was gifted to me by my mom piece by piece over 3years, if my kids even look at it their lives are threatened…

The man room tree, cheap green shatterproof ornaments…the hubby keeps calling it an Irish tree which is really annoying me because that was not my intention…

The hubby grew up with a “kids” nativity set so I picked this up from Target a few years back, the manger was from his childhood set…

I might be verging on the crazy nutcracker lady…the little boys are salivating over these…I can imagine the battle they’d have if they got their hands on these

I got our Elf about 5 years ago…we named him Elfred because his an Elf and he’s red…

I didn’t realize I bought the lazy elf…his ass didn’t move an inch last night…
