mismatch…

I’m done with upholstered chairs in my kitchen…watching you can’t tell, but my kids are the sloppiest eaters…
Exhibit A

Way back in January I decided it was time for my kitchen chairs to be repainted…I picked blue, it was dark so it would hide the drips and dirt better…

I did not love it so I never finished the other chairs… also, it really was time to retire 4 of the chairs, I’ve had them for over 10 years and they were used when I got them so who knows how old they really are…
for months my kitchen has looked like this…

A little while ago Kristen had posted about painting mismatched chairs…
I’d seen the look before but after seeing this…SOLD!  Definitely digging this look…
I thought about what color I was going to paint them, I have white walls and enough green in the surrounding rooms so that wasn’t an option…navy?  orange?
then I found this image…
L-O-V-E!
So in my hunt I tried to find chairs that were similar in stain…

I gave them a good wash down with Murphy’s soap and then applied Howard’s Restor- A- Finish to give them a little shine…

I love the look of the wood with the white walls and the contrast of the table…the head chairs still need to be stripped and stained, my most dreaded job!!!
I recovered the Brentwood style chair with brown vinyl and removed the arms of the caned chair so it will fit under the table…

Easy and cheap…I even have a couple chairs in the basement in case any of these meet with an unfortunate accident…

Love this idea. We have an industrial butcher block conference table I want to use in the kitchen. This chair idea is awesome!
